County and City Take Possession of Mobile Command Unit

Following approval from the Junction City Commission last Tuesday night representatives of the Junction City Police Department and Geary County Sheriff’s Department traveled to Ohio to pick up a Mobile Command Unit.

The unit was purchased for $85,000 by both the JCPD and GCSO using Screen-Shot-2014-05-01-at-7.26.24-AM.pngdrug forfeiture money.

“As of last Thursday the new Mobile Command Vehicle has now come into our possession,” said Larry Hicks, Geary County Commission Chair, Monday afternoon. “That vehicle will be shared between both public safety entities.”

The vehicle will also be available to all emergency agencies in Geary County. It is a 2000 LDV/Freightliner with approximately 12,000 miles on it. It does come with new radios and equipment that do match up with the equipment currently being used by the JCPD and GCSO.
