The USd 475 Board of Education dealt with a number of business items in their meeting this week.
–The Board approved a change in elementary school boundaries. Some students living in western Geary County outside Junction City limits would go from the Eisenhower Elementary School attendance area to the Spring Valley Elementary School attendance area. There are currently 12 students residing in that area who are enrolled at Eisenhower. The adjustment will reduce bus travel time for the children by almost 50 percent. The adjustment also assists in balancing capacity numbers between the schools. Eisenhower is currently over its design capacity by 15, and Spring Valley is currently under its design capacity by 29.
–The BOE approved the agreement for athletic training services. The district will fund the position occuppied by Brandon Martino. The position was funded this year by a Geary Community Healthcare Foundation donation.
–Junction City High School baccalaureate and comencement are Sunday May 18. Baccalaureate will begin at 3:30 p.m.and commencement at 6 p.m.
–The Board approved the replacement of 400 student and teacher notebooks to keep pace with technology changes. The total cost will be $245,200. Funds are available in the Department of Defense Fund for the project.
