Riley County police dispatch has confirmed street flooding in Manhattan due to the storm. The storm sewers are having trouble keeping up with the flow of water.

Manhattan and east central Geary County were included in a severe weather advisory issued early in the 8 o’clock hour until 8:45 a.m. Sunday.

In addition the National Weather Service issued an urban and small stream flood advisory for Geary County, western Pottawatomie, Riley County, northwestern Morris, and eastern Dickinson Counties until 10:15 a.m. Sunday.

Radar indicated between 2 and 4 inches of rain has fallen across the area.

The excessive water runoff from the rain will cause elevated levels on small creeks and streams….and ponding of water on country roads and farmland along the banks of creeks and streams.
