More mental health professionals need to be attracted to Fort Riley in the future.

Major General Paul Funk made that point during a review of the strategic initiatives contained in the Campaign Plan 2020 for the post. He told area news media in the region it’s not just mental healthcare providers. “We need healthcare providers. We need to bring in top notch professionals, which we have here, but we need to expand the network. ”
Funk said Fort Riley has 6,000 more soldiers than ever before, and that puts some load on the network. “The more people we have here the better off the care is going to be.”
The outcome of that initiative would include establishing memorandums of agreement with regional universities.
The strategic initiatives in the Campaign Plan 2020 also include approval of a Kansas National Guard – 1st Infantry Division Joint Training Cooperative Agreement which would expand the total force training area to 136,656 acres, and also increase capabilities and relevance. There is also a goal to begin the privatization of Fort Riley utilities which would be intended to upgrade the utilities serving the post.
