If you noticed smoke drifting in the air in Geary County on Saturday there’s a reason. 

Geary County Rural Fire Chief Garry Berges said on Saturday Geary County residents were not allowed to burn ( grassland ) because the winds were gusting up to 25 mph. “What people were seeing, was smoke from farther south in the Morris County and the Wabaunsee County area that for some reason came north.”

Berges noted the air aloft kept the smoke down toward the ground level.
