Lady Jays Claim First, Blue Jays Fourth in JCHS Invitational

One half point was the difference between first and second place in the girls team standings at the Junction City High School Invitational track meet.

Junction City finished first in the seven-team field with 124 points while Shawnee Heights had 123.5.

Highlights for Junction City included first place finishes by Rosie Hollis in the 1600 meters in 5:39.40, Tyra Gosha in the 400 meter run in 1.03.01, Myrissa Humphreys in the 300 meter hurdles in 50.04.

Hollis knew she would tired when she to the 1600 meters because she had just finished running in the four by 800. “So I wasn’t really that confident about it, but I knew I had to get it done. ” Hollis took the lead in the race in the third lap, “and I just went out hard and gave it my all.”

Also capturing first place for the Lady Jays were the four by 800 relay team of Deisjambra Bisio, Brianna Pace, Rosie Hollis, and Autumn Sifuentes in 10:24.50, the four by 400 relay team of Tykayius Roberson, Tyra Gosha, Myrissa Humphreys, and Samonte Jones in 4:25.89.

The Blue Jay boys scored 88.5 points to finish fourth out of seven teams. Shawnee Heights finished first with a score of 110 points.

For the Blue Jays Scott Keith won the high jump with a top mark of 6 feet, Byrale Carter the long jump at 20′ 1 1/2, and Tyrik Nas-Carmikle the 100 meter dash in 11.99.
