In the first game Topeka West got a grand slam home run in the top of the 7th inning to jump ahead by one run. Lady Jay coach Nancy Detmer noted her team had a hard time recovering from that. “They gave it a valiant effort there at the end. We had an opportunity in the bottom of the seventh to come back and win that game, and we just couldn’t put the ball in the hole.”

In that game Katie Hollibaugh of Junction City also hit a home run.

In the second contest Junction City led 4-1 going into the top of the 6th inning but couldn’t hold the lead as the Chargers scored four runs in that inning.

Junction City, 0-2, will host Clay Center on Tuesday.
