Junction City Fire Department Battalion Chief Rick Rook said they received an alarm from staff on-site at the high school about a possible structure fire. “Upon arrival we did a thorough investigation both inside the building and also on the roof where they indicated there might have been a problem. We were unable to locate any type of problem at all.”

Rook noted authorities believe the alarm was false, and it was possibly caused by the thunderstorm that came through the area prior to the alarm, or there may have been a faulty alarm system within the school.

Rook said the Fire Department responded with 16 personnel, two engines, a ladder truck, command vehicle, and two medic units.
