Chapman USD 473  Superintendent Lacee Sell said Thursday, that District is taking applications for a new District Athletic Director position.

Her announcement during the Your Town program on the Talk of JC follows changes that Sell indicated  will include the resignations of Chapman boys head basketball coach Tony Ingram, girls head basketball coach Sara Cook, and Chapman High School  Assistant Principal / Athletic Director Shane Sundahl.

Sell stated, ” For us we need somebody to come in to have kids active and involved. ” She also said she is looking for “the right athletic director that is going to come in and have the expectation of what they want in these new people ( new coaches ).

Sell confirmed that current Junction City High School Assistant Principal Kate Thornton has been hired to fill the  assistant principal post at Chapman High School that opened up, but the District Athletic Director position will be brand new. Sell explained, “Somebody to come in and oversee the program, and sports seven, eight at the middle school and then nine – twelve obviously at the high school, and make the connection of the flow through from the middle school to the high school.”

The USD 473 Board of Education has approved the additional salary for the new District A-D position.

Sell said she wants that to person to have key relationships in Little League and summer programs. The position will be advertised until March 28, and the superintendent added they will hire the new A-D at the end of the  first week of April.
