JCPD Participating in Night Time Seat Belt Enforcement

Officers of the Junction City Police Department will be conducting Night Time Seat Belt jcpd threeEnforcement in the downtown area of Junction City at the intersection of 6th and Washington Streets throughout the month of March. According to Captain Dan Breci there will be additional officers on the street to observe those that are not buckled up and take enforcement action.

Those motorists stopped for traffic violations who are suspected of intoxication will be given on-site field sobriety test. Confirmed impaired drivers will be arrested.

The State of Kansas requires all drivers and passengers to wear seat belts or depending, a child restraint seat.

Officers working are paid from a grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety and Technology that the JCPD has contracted with to do Night Time Seat Belt Enforcement each month throughout the year.
