BREAKING NEWS FROM JCPD

On February 10th, 2014, the Junction City Police Department requested the public’s assistance jcpd threein locating Amanda Clemons, 24, of Junction City, so that her welfare could be checked. Ms. Clemons was last observed leaving the Budget Host Hotel, room 112, located at 820 South Washington Street in Junction City, Ks, on February 7th, 2014, in the evening hours. Police had received information that Ms. Clemons was observed being placed in a silver in color vehicle that was occupied by two black males and two black females.

 

On February 12th, 2014, Junction City Detectives working with Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation developed information that led them to execute a search warrant on Ft. Riley in reference to the investigation. Subsequent interviews conducted by Detectives and Agents throughout the day led law enforcement to a remote location in rural Geary County where the body of a female was discovered Wednesday night.

 

An evidence response team from the Federal Bureau of Investigation was called in to assist with the processing of the crime scene.

 

The identity of the victim has not been verified but the victim matches the description of Ms. Clemons.

 

Two persons have been arrested in connection with the case:

 

1.    Marryssa Monyque Middleton of Colorado, 22, has been arrested on suspicion of 1st Degree Murder, Aggravated Kidnapping, and Conspiracy.

2.    Drexel Alexander Woody of Ft. Riley, Kansas, 23, has been arrested on suspicion of Aiding and Abetting a 1st Degree Murder, Aggravated Kidnapping, and Conspiracy.

Formal court charges have not been filed in the case.

An autopsy has not yet been scheduled.

 

The investigation into the case is continuing, and anyone with information concerning this case may call the Junction City Police Department at 785-762-5912 or Crimestoppers at 785-762-TIPS. You may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1000.

 

Woody and Middleton should have their first appearance in Geary County District Court tomorrow.

 

Agencies assisting this investigation are the Geary County Sheriff’s Office, the Grandview Plaza Police Department, Ft. Riley Military Police Investigations, Army CID, the Ft. Riley JAG Office, the Riley County Police Department, and the Geary County Attorney’s Office.
