The Emporia Spartans used solid three-point shooting and free throw shooting to knock off the Junction City Blue Jay boys basketball team 70-67 Saturday night in Emporia.
The win snapped a nine-game losing streak for the Spartans, while the Blue Jays dropped their seventh game in a row.
Emporia hit seven three-point shots and went 25-30 at the free throw line enroute to the win.
The Blue Jays tried to make a late run at the Spartans with some strong three-point shooting of their own, but after trailing 52-36 early in the fourth quarter they, ironically, came up three points short. Junction City hit six three-point shots in the final stanza and scored 31 points in that period to 25 for the Spartans.
Junction City, 4-10, will host Seaman Tuesday night.
