Wednesday Road Update Geary County

badge formAs of Wednesday morning ( Feb. 5 ) the major roads in Geary County had been cleared. Geary County Sheriff Tony Wolf said they are passable, but snowpacked and slicked.

“The side roads, the old gravels roads and things out in the county, they’re still working to get those cleaned up. It’s going to take awhile to get through all of those. Our east and west roads took a real beating last ( Wednesday ) night with the wind and the snow drifts, but other than that we’re starting to get dug out from under this.”

No injuries or serious accidents have been reported in connection with the storm in Geary County.

In Junction City Wolf felt the main streets looked good. He noted they’re cleared, but are also snowpacked and slick.

People driving too fast for the conditions is a concern.  Wolf noted some people feel with a clear roadway they can return back up to normal speed limits. “And then before they know it they’re in trouble, and then they’re off in the ditch. We’re seeing that out on I-70 in a few places, the entrance and exit ramps we’ve had a few people go off into the ditch on there, but they’re not having accidents. They’re just sliding off roadways. “
