Remember to check on the elderly during the current cold weather snap.

That’s one piece of advice from the Director of the Junction City – Geary County Health Department Pat Hunter. “Call and look in on the elderly, especially if they’re living by themselves.”

Hunter also said do not have babies sleep in cold rooms.

Other reminders include decreasing alcohol intake because it can speed up hypothermia, and remember the animals. “Change the water at least twice a day, and bring them in if at all possible.”

There is a wind chill advisory in effect until nine a.m. Tuesday ( Jan. 7 ).
