Former GCH Nurse Honored By K-State for Life Saving Efforts

During halftime of the K-State vs. Oklahoma State basketball game Saturday at Bramlage Coliseum Danielle Patterson was honored by Kansas State Universtiy.

On November 23rd, 2013 during the K-State vs. Oklahoma football game Patterson, a registered nurse at Stormont Vail in KSU NURSES HONORTopeka and a former employee of Geary Community Hospital, was watching the pre-game ceremony when Robert Bridgham, sitting two rows in front of her, suffered a heart attack.

Patterson along with another nurse sitting near by, Loreen Buccigrossi and James Bond, K-State Athletics Event Staff member, began providing medical assistance to Bridgham while Patterson’s mother, Linda Patterson who is an LPN at Geary Community Hospital, was on the phone with 911 guiding EMS to their location.

Bridgham was transported to Mercy Regional Hospital and has made a full recovery.

Patterson, Buccigrossi and Bond were all presented a plaque by Bridgham in recognition for their life saving efforts.
