Junction City’s City Manager has been on the job now for just over two months and said that he is planning to present what essentially will be a state of the city address in about 90 days.

Gerald Smith, started as the new City Manager on October 14th and has said he’s spent the last couple of months learning the way the city works and some of it’s problems.
In his address Smith said he will outline the cities problems and his solutions and plans to fix those problems.
“I will share with the city commission my observations and my recommendations on going forward,” Smith explained. ” In terms of what are some of the solutions that I have been able to identify to help us move forward and address some of our debt load that the city and our residents are being asked to bear.”
Smith said the debt load will be a major focus of his in the coming year. His address will outline courses of actions that will take place over the next year or so.
“It will provide sort of a template or a model for how I believe we need to move forward,” Smith said.
The city is dealing with major debt due to the infrastructure buildup that occurred to meet anticipated population growth. Some of that growth never happened.
