The Salvation Army will be at the Junction City Wal-Mart Friday and Saturday collecting toys and clothes for the 2nd Annual “Fill the Truck” toy drive.

This year the Salvation Army in Geary County is collecting toys and clothes for 178 families including 254 children in Geary County.

Haidya Dansby, Geary County Salvation Army Coordinator, said that last year the response from the community was tremendous,”Instead of giving one or two toys to families we were able to fill in with a lot of different other things. People gave gloves, clothes hats, shoes. Instead of the families taking out bags of toys they were able to take out bags with clothing items as well.”

Volunteers will be at Wal-Mart Friday and Saturday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. both days accepting donations. A collection bin will also be set up inside the Wal-Mart for people to continue making donations through December 15th.
