The effort to move forward with work on possible development of a sports complex received the stamp of approval from a community group this week.
The leader of the group working on the project, Adam Wilkey, said the next step involves completing the feasibility study for the project. “Engage in Phase Two. This is a long process. SFA in our intial engagement with them laid out the whole process.”
Wilkey said Phase Two will include a full phase business plan to help outline “extensive feasibility on this project.”
SFA is Sports Facilities Advisory, a Florida based company hired to help determine the feasibility of the project.
Those attending the community meeting were shown tentative sketches of a sports complex and there was some information on a possible site near I-70.
There was also acknowledgement that there is an effort in Manhattan to move forward with a possible sports complex process. Wilkey stated they want people to be aware of that.
JCPost.com asked Wiley if there will be discussions with Manhattan about possibly doing a joint project? “Perhaps. You might seen an opportunity there, but it’s very preliminary at this point. That’s something discussion could arise there. ” Wilkey also said, “Might be more relevant with the Flint Hills Regional Council, something starting at that level, talking about regionalism.” Wilkey added there is nothing specific about that.
