Junction City’s new City Manager hosted a meet and greet Wednesday evening at the C.L. Hoover Opera House.
Gerald Smith, City Manager, has been in Junction City for four weeks and said that he’s been surprised about the amount
of diversity the city has, “I had no clue that this community was as diverse as it is. It goes to show that theres obviously an effort that the city certainly can undertake in terms of getting the word out there and identifying the vast uniqueness about the community and theres a stake of pride in that.”
Smith has spent time trying to get to know the community and has visited many business’s around town.
Cecil Aska, Mayor of Junction City, said that he’s heard positive responses from members of the community about Smith. “A couple of people have talked to me and they seem to like him. I know he has been going into the downtown area and talking to some of the business people and they were very pleased. The feed back that I’m getting is they are very receptive of it and they seem to like his personality.”
Smith started October 14th, just 11 days after he was hired by the Junction City Commission.
