The Junction City-Geary County Economic Development Commission will once again discuss a proposed casino in Geary county. The issue is on their agenda for Tuesday afternoons meeting.
Ben Kitchens, EDC Chairman said that the purpose of the discussion will be to try and keep it
moving forward. “Time is of the essence. If Representative Rothlisberg is going to in fact take a bill to the hearing we need to make sure we have all of our ducks in a row going forward.”
Rep. Allan Rothlisberg is hoping to present the proposed legislation that would designate Geary county as a future site for a state owned casino to a Kansas House Committee in February.
Kitchens said that local support of the casino is there but he still doesn’t think people give it much of a chance,” Because so many things have to fall into place.”
He went on to say that the casino will still need support,”We’ve got to get our representatives behind us. It’s not just the city of Junction City, we know a majority of the citizens in town would like to see a casino, we have to convince the folks in Topeka.”
The EDC will meet at 12:00 noon Tuesday at the Junction City Chamber of Commerce.
