A 23-year-old man has died after falling off the hood of a moving vehicle in central Kansas.

The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that Roland A. Rummel was run over Sunday in northern Ellis County and died Monday at Hays Medical Center.

Rummel reportedly exited a vehicle and then jumped onto the hood while the vehicle was in motion. When the driver pressed the brakes, Rummel fell off and was run over.

The driver was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence and transporting an open container.
