The Jammin’ in JC blues and barbecue festival will be Friday and Saturday in the Heritage Park area in downtown Junction City.
There will be a number of performers on a stage that will be set up on 6th Street on the north side of the Park. The festival will also include a barbecue contest and multiple food vendors in the park.
Bob Cevera, Coordinator of the Festival, said the stage will arrive on Thursday. “It’s a little bit smaller than the Sundown Salute stage, and it be approximately in the same spot. It’s a little bit different than their stage. It comes in on a truck, and it’s got hydraulics, kind of lifts itself up. So we don’t have to have quite as many people to put it up.”
Cevera is expecting a total turnout for the festival in the 7,000 to 8,000 people, similar to the attendance for Jammin’ in JC in 2012. Performers will include Katy Guillen Trio, Jonathon “Boogie” Long, and Trampled Under Foot on Friday night. The Saturday lineup includes The Reverend Jimmie Bratcher, Red State Blues Band, Kelly / Richey Band, and Back Porch Blues Band.
There will be multiple food vendors in Heritage Park for the two-day festival. We have a couple of big vendors. They are some of our major sponsors. Both Cox Barbecue and Munson Angus Beef will be there once again this year. And then we have some civic organizations.” Those include the Knights of Columbus, Geary County Historical Society, Dorothy Bramlage Public Library, and the Junction City Arts Council, all of whom will be participating in the food vending.
Fifth and Sixth Streets from Jefferson to Washington Streets downtown will be closed off to traffic for the festival.
