The circus is coming to town Sunday in Grandview plaza to raise money for the Grandview Plaza Fire Department.

The fire department is hoping to raise money to purchase a new thermal imaging camera. Jerome Thomas, GVP Fire Chief, said that the camera is very important especially with all of the mobile homes in Grandview Plaza,”We can pin point where the fires are if they are not outside of the building or the structure. We can also pin point if there is a victim inside.” The cost of the camera is estimated around $9,000.

There will be two 90-minute circus show performances….2:30 and 4:30 p.m. on Sunday September 8 in the Grandview Plaza City Park. Between 9:30 and 10 a.m. that day the public can watch the raising of the Big Top, then stay for a free tour. Tickets for the circus shows later in the day are $6 in advance for children 2-12 and $10 for adults. Those are available at Stacy’s Restaurant, Handy’s One, Geary Estates, and City Hall in Grandview Plaza, and at Junction City Bowl. On show day tickets will be $7 for children and $13 for adults.

Thomas said that one of the circus clowns came into town early on Tuesday and put on a small performance in the Grandview Elementary auditorium. ” The kids really seemed to enjoy it. She had some kids do some participation and the kids, teachers and principal and everybody else had a real good time. A lot of laughing and a lot of cheering.”

The circus lineup includes Miss Simone and her amazing single trapeze, Miss Paulina’s proud prancing ponies, The Arlise Troupe on their wild and crazy unicycles, Natilie’s American Eskimo Escapades, The Ayala’s with unforgettable foot juggling, a ridiculous Rola Bola, and certainly a hair raising Hair Hang, plus the Jungle Cats Solomon, Delilah & Francis, presented by Trey Key. All of the acts will be accompanied by original music written by Matt Margucci from Los Angeles, California.
