Michael “Mike” Andrew Marts, 68 of Junction City, passed away on September 22 at Valley View, Junction City, KS.
He was born March 14, 1951 in Junction City Kansas to Opal Kathryn (Kay) Brooks and Hubert (Hub) Cecil Marts, Jr. Mike grew up in Milford and attended school in Junction City. After graduating High School, Mike went on to graduate from Manhattan Area Vo-Tech for Diesel Mechanics.
Mike worked for Martin Caterpillar in Topeka and water softening in Carbondale, Kansas. It was there he met his wife, Joyce and moved to rural Geary County. During that marriage, Mike was blessed with his son, Travis, November 29, 1980. Later, Mike and Joyce divorced. Mike worked for Walker Stone and eventually took over running the Farnum Creek Plant. He was also co-owner of Devil’s Tail Club. Later he worked at the Transfer Station for Ham until his retirement.
He had many hobbies but especially enjoyed hunting and fishing and never gave up the chance to work on all kinds of engines. He was a member of the Eagles where many will remember him and his smile.
He is survived by his son, Travis, and brother Jimmy Marts both of Junction City, KS; sister, Joyce Borges, Las Vegas NV and stepdaughter Terri Murphy, Topeka, KS.
There will be a Memorial service, 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 30 at Londeen Funeral Home in Chapman with Pastor Connie Wooldridge officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of the Memorial service. Burial will be at Indian Hill Cemetery following the service.
