Blue Jays improve their football record to 2-0 with a win over Washburn Rural

The Junction City Blue Jays scored on a 30-yard touchdown pass to Qua’Vez Humphreys with 1:05 remaining in the first half to lead Washburn Rural 19-14 at halftime of their Centennial League football matchup at Al Simpler Stadium. The Blue Jays would only give up three points the rest of the way as they rolled to a 35-17 win over the Junior Blues on the second week of the high school football season.

The Blue Jay defense led by sacks by Terrance Crumpton and strong run defense overall held Washburn Rural to just three points the entire second half.

Junction City’s win came in the home opener for the Blue Jays ( 2-0 ). They now prepare to host Topeka West next Friday, while Washburn Rural fell to 0-2.
