Jack Laverne Worden

Jack Laverne Worden, 72, of Wamego, Kansas, died Sunday, September 1, 2019, at his home.  He was a long-time member of the community.

Jack was born on October 7,1946, in Westmoreland, Kansas, the son of Calvin and Elsie Godding Worden.  He attended local schools and graduated from Wamego High School in 1965. He was a member of the American Boy Scouts and recieved his Eagle Scout. Jack then served in the United States Navy during the Viet Nam Conflict.

Jack worked as a roofer for many years and owned and operated Worden Roofing.  He also did concrete and masonry work.  Jack was a life member of Black Jack American Legion in St. George and a member of Wamego IOOF (Odd Fellows).  Jack also served as a volunteer firefighter for the Louisville Fire Department and Boy Scout Leader.

Jack married Deborah Guibor on December 11, 1992, in Wamego.  She survives at their home.

Jack is also survived by his daughter Linda, of Alma; his step children, Jennifer Smith, Wamego, and Ivan Smith (Robyn), Manhattan; two grandchildren and five step-grandchildren; his sisters, Joyce “Kacki” Webb (Daniel), Wilder, KT, Rosemary Young (Dennis), St. James, MO, Calvette Williams (Kevin), Olsburg and Diana Wheaton (Ray), Howard; his brothers, Harry Worden (Elain), Topeka and Rex Worden (Karen), St. George.  Jack was preceded in death by his parents.

A Graveside Inurnment service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at the Wamego City Cemetery.  Pastor Pat Green will be officiating.  The family suggests memorial contributions to Campanella-Evans Mortuary to help with funeral expenses.
