A new nonprofit wholesale distribution outlet in Junction City, MAS-HELP, held their ribbon cutting and grand opening at their 1216 Grant Avenue location on Friday.
Henry Petty, Managing Director, said MAS-HELP will sell everything from kitchen sinks to TV’s at a very low price. Their goal is to serve both the Soldiers and the community.
Petty explained a concept was developed to both help the community and generate some revenue.”We can get pretty much everything. We have carpets, tile, vanities, shower heads, faucets, tools.”
The concept and the thought process began in Junction City, where Petty is from but the operation is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia where MAS-HELP has a 9,800 square foot warehouse and where Petty now resides. This is the first expansion for the nonprofit organization.
Petty said they still have to hire employees for the Junction City outlet which will include approximately three to five people. About the items that are sold he said, “Basically I go to auctions, I bid online to get product and then I sell it.”
Petty explained MAS-HELP will be able to assist Soldiers and community members. “When you go through certain organizations they really channel your money. But with us if someone came in off the street that needed help we can help them without paperwork. Here, take this and go.”
Petty noted this outlet is open to anyone. “Anybody can come because the community are the Soldiers and the Soldiers are the community.”
