Daniel Wayne Grimm was born November 13, 1960 in Waconia, Minnesota, son of Willard George and Evelyn Theresa nee Erickson Grimm. He was brought into the family of God through the waters of holy baptism on December 4, 1960, at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Young America, by vacancy pastor Rev. E. A. Schuett, with George Schrupp, Jr., Evonne Lenzen, and Donald Schrupp as his baptismal sponsors.

He attended St. John’s Lutheran School. He was received as a communicant member of St. John’s through the rite of confirmation on March 23, 1975 by Rev. Henry Fry. He continued his schooling and was graduated from Mayer Lutheran High School in 1979.

Dan managed the family farm, taking over breeding operations shortly after high school, increasing milk herd production, and then continuing as sole operator after his parents’ death in 1989.

Dan played or umpired softball most of his adult life, with over twenty years of service as a certified High School official. Dan was a bowler who bowled in several leagues through the years, and competed in a numbers of tournaments around the state.

Dan was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, of Norwood Young America, and served on various boards and committees. He sang in the church choir for 40 years.

He moved to Kansas to be near family after being diagnosed with PSP, a progressive illness. He was called from this life on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at the Alma Manor nursing home. God gave him 58 years, 7 months and 12 days to prepare for an eternity with Jesus Christ, the world’s Savior and Redeemer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his sister Beverly, who all died in 1989. He is survived by his brother Reverend Robert and his wife Gayle, of Alma, Kansas; his nephew Erik (Eve) Grimm of St. George, Kansas; his niece Elisabeth (Brandon) Heath of El Cajon, California, and his nephew Aaron (Kayla) Grimm and their daughter Andrea, of Overland Park, Kansas; one aunt, Ruth Schrupp, Norwood Young America, Minnesota; numerous relatives, church family and friends.
