Boots, Chaps and Cowboy Hats raised $13,000

The 17th annual Geary Community Healthcare Foundation western fundraiser, Boots, Chaps and Cowboy Hats raised $13,000 to support improvements to suites in Medical Arts Building One at Geary Community Hospital. The event was held at Acorn’s Resort last Friday night.

A total of 68 guests ate a BBQ meal prepared by The Cove Restaurant.

The silent auction raised $2,348 and the live auction raised $1,475. Some of the items sold at auction ranged from a fishing trip donated by Dr. Larry and Laura McGary of Total Care Dentistry, to a custom made barn wood box with bourbons and cigars donated by Terry and Peggy Heldstab, and Perry and Annette Wiggins, an airplane ride with Willie Thornberg, a sunset boat cruise around Milford Lake donated by Acorn’s Resort, and a Kansas State flag custom made out of purple heart donated by Christopher Creek Rustics.

Guests danced on the patio overlooking Milford Lake to country music provided by Rusty Laffoon Band from Kansas City.

Benefactors for the event included Geary Community Hospital Auxiliary, corporate sponsors including Central National Bank Wealth Management & Trust Services, Eagle Communications — KJCK Radio, KS State Bank, and Valley View Senior Life, and underwriters for the event.
