In 2018 the area saw the worst infestation of bagworms that has ever been recorded. According to Geary County Extension Agent, Chuck Otte, 2019 is expected be as bad.
Bagworms are an insect pest that while feeding on over 200 species of plants can be especially devastating to junipers and spruces. A bagworm identification and control demonstration is being held by the K-State Research and Extension, Geary County Extension Office on Thursday, June 20th at 7 p.m. in the backyard at 613 Tamerisk Drive (corner of Tamerisk and Columbine). Chuck Otte will demonstrate how to identify even small bagworms, explain their life cycle and how to control them before they damage your plants.
Questions on this event can be directed to Chuck Otte at the Geary County Extension Office, cotte@ksu.edu or 785-238-4161.
