Donna Mae Kaufman Jarmer

Donna Mae Kaufman Jarmer, 84, passed away on May 29, 2019 at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, KS surrounded by her family.

Donna’s grandparents immigrated to the United States from Russia with a Mennonite Group. This group eventually came to settle in Pretty Prairie, Kansas. This group also brought winter wheat to the area. Donna was born to Albert and Anna Kauffman at the family home in Pretty Prairie on July 16, 1934.

After graduating from Pretty Prairie High School, Donna later met Paul Jarmer. They married June 1, 1956 and moved to Chapman to be close to Paul’s employment at Fort Riley. In Chapman they raised their four children, Debbie, Greg, Steve and Sandy.

Her interests and passions show who Donna truly was. Family was first and foremost for Donna. She enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren and was so proud of each of them.  Faith was an important part of her life. She was Mennonite but in her adult years she was a member of Chapman United Methodist Church all the years she lived in Chapman. Donna loved working with the elderly and this showed in her 35 years at Chapman Valley Manor.  After retiring Donna continued her lifelong friendships with her co-workers and would have weekly breakfast gatherings and also would celebrate birthday’s  as well.

She is survived by her three children, son Steve Jarmer, Manhattan, KS and daughters Debbie (James) Templeton, Grand Rapids, MI and Sandy (Jeri) Hynek, Manhattan, KS; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren; sister Marge Kaufman and brother Vic Kaufman both of Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Jarmer; son Greg Jarmer; a granddaughter, her parents  and six siblings.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., June 5, 2019 at Londeen Funeral Home, 206 W. 5th, Chapman, KS.  Reverend Connie Wooldridge officiating and  Reverend Ken Trickle assisting.

Donna’s finally resting place will be at Indian Hill Cemetery in Chapman, KS.

In lieu of flowers the family suggestions memorials be made to the Chapman Valley Manor or the Chapman Senior Center in care of Londeen Funeral Home, PO Box 429, Chapman, KS 67431
