Heritage Park was the setting for three Quilt of Valor presentations on Saturday.
They were presented to David Drummond of Leavenworth, David Bradley of Geary County, and Kenneth Edmiston of Milford. All three served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. Bradley was on active duty from 1965-1967 and later in the Army Reserves. Edmiston served in the Army from 1966-1987 and spent time as a chaplain, while Drummond served in the Army from 1968-1979 and later in the Army Reserves.
The Coordinator of the Central Flint Hills Area Quilt of Valor Project, Donna Martinson, noted that 306 quilts have been awarded so far in this area.
The goal of the national Quilt of Valor Foundation is to honor and cover service members who have been touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor.
