Boaters beware of floating debris in Milford Lake

The water level at Milford Lake is currently more than 11 feet above normal conservation pool level.

Blake McFerren with the Corps of Engineers at the lake, noted one safety concern for boaters. ” I would like to remind everyone who’s out boating on Milford Lake this year please be aware of the floating logs out on the water. As the lake continues to rise and we have high inflows from the river more logs are going to be washed down and enter the main lake.”

McFerren said If you are fishing or boating and head north toward Wakefield there could be logs anywhere. “And some of these logs are just barely under the surface where you can’t hardly see them.” McFerren added if you are in that area it might be best to just slow the boat down and be aware of under water obstructions.

The Corps of Engineers is having to hold water back in Milford Lake to prevent downstream flooding.
