Blue Jay sports report

The Junction City Blue Jay baseball team split a doubleheader with Manhattan in Manhattan on Friday.

The Blue Jays won the first game 10-6 while Manhattan won the nightcap 3-2.

The Blue Jays are 6-2 on the season.

The Junction City Lady Jay softball team ( 0-4 ) fell to Manhattan ( 3-1 ) at Cleary Field on Friday by the scores of 11-0 in five innings and 6-3.

The second game was pretty competitive. Lady Jay coach Aaron Craig said in the first game he felt his squad kept worrying about mistakes that had occurred.  In the second game the players communicated better, the decision making was better and the Lady Jays were more committed at the plate.

Junction City will host Shawnee Mission West Monday in a doubleheader at 4 p.m.

The Lady Jays are conducting a youth clinic today ( Saturday ).

The Junction City Blue Jay boys track team captured first place in the Maize Invitational on Friday. The Lady Jays finished fourth in the team competition, only one half-point out of third place.

The JCHS Invitational for boys and girls is Monday at Al Simpler Stadium.

The Lady Jay soccer team defeated Highland Park on Friday by the score of 7-2.
