Corps of Engineers update for Milford Lake

The Army Corps of Engineers at Milford Lake issued a statement Tuesday saying that the Missouri River crest is currently in Omaha, Nebraska and will begin to work its way through the Kansas City AOR this week. The National Weather Service has indicated that the crest will be in Rulo, Nebraska on Tuesday, St. Joseph, Missouri and Atchison, Kansas on Thursday, and Parkville, Missouri and Kansas City, Missouri on Friday.

Releases from Kansas reservoirs remain minimal.

The current forecast indicates inflows are reducing and release is possible later in the month, pending downstream conditions.

As of March 19th the Milford Lake level is 1149.34 and is expected to top out at 1151.41 on April 12th. Right now 25 cubic feet per second, or low flow, is the release from the reservoir which has been required to hold water to prevent downstream flooding problems.
