The Junction City Blue Jay boys basketball team ( 9-8 ) lost to Topeka High ( 16-2 ) 57-48 in Topeka Monday night.

The Blue Jays missed a number of layups and free throws, especially in the first half. Convert on those and Junction City could have opened a big lead. Junction City coach Nick Perez noted that the Blue Jays got 11 defensive stops in a row in the first half but came away with just two points. “We missed some shots, missed some layups, we turned the ball over. They’re very athletic and they’re very long.

The game was close until the fourth quarter when the Trojans outscored the Blue Jays 29-18.

Junction City will play at Topeka West on Friday night.
