Blue Jays finish second in the Tournament of Champions

The Junction City Blue Jays held a 10-point lead in the first half but Bishop Carroll rallied to tie the game at 26-all at halftime. In the third quarter the Golden Eagles outscored Junction City and grabbed a lead they would never relinquish enroute to 64-54 victory over the Blue Jays in the championship game of the Tournament of Champions in Dodge City.

Junction City ( 6-4 ) got 21 points from A.J. Dickerson and 18 from Quavez Humphreys in the ballgame. which saw the Blue Jays rally in the second half to cut the Golden Eagles down to three points in the fourth quarter before Bishop Carroll ( 9-3 )pulled away to get the win.

A.J. DIckerson was named the Most Inspirational Player in the Tournament, and both Dickerson and Quavez Humphreys were both named to the All-Tournament Basketball Team. A’ttera Buckson of Junction City was the recipient of an All-Tournament Spirit Award at the tournament. And Junction City received the Sportsmanship Award for the tournament.

The Blue Jays picked up wins over Derby and Dodge City in the first two rounds of the Tournament of Champions. They now will prepare to play at Topeka High on Tuesday night.
