The Geary County Sheriff’s office has announced a new service that will now be available to the public, “VINE” or Victim Information and Notification Everyday.
VINE allows victims of crime to gain peace of mind and a sense of control over their lives. The service permits crime victims to obtain timely and reliable information about the custody status of offenders, 23 hours a day.
Victims and other concerned citizens can register to be notified by telephone, email, text message, SMS or TTY device when an offender’s custody status changes.
Citizens wishing to register for the service can visit the Geary County Sheriff’s office website at https://www.gearycountysheriff.org/ and then click on the Jail Information tab towards the top of the page. From the VINE website, you can request notifications or download the free VINELINK mobile app. This service is provided to the public at no cost.
VINE is a solution developed by Appriss, that provides victims of crime with access to timely and reliable offender custody information. The VINE service is currently available in more than 2,900 communities across 48 states, including Kansas.
