Taylor Briggs of Chapman High School captured first place in the Class 4A girls race at the state cross country meet in Wamego Saturday.

Briggs turned in a winning time of 18:57.6. Fallon Russell of Shawnee Mission-Miege finished second in 19:53.8.

In the Class 4A boys competition, Aaron Modrow of Chapman finished third in 17:01.9.
