The Focus on Internal Design for the New Junction City High School

Furniture that will be used in the new Junction City High School will be important because of the way teachers are teaching. They are using a more collaborative process and need flexible furniture.

Architect Troy Hertel conveyed that message to the Board of Education Thursday evening.

The plan calls for two science labs in each academy area of the new building, with each lab consisting of 3,300 square feet, along with a prep room for each academy.

Hertel noted that there needs to be as much flexibility as possible, and it is good to have a site this large to build on. That has helped in the overall design. A 160-acre site has been acquired for the new school on the west side of Junction City north of K-18 Highway.

There will be another meeting with students about this process.

The goal is to have the school finished and in use by August of 2021.
