Geary County Pathways to Fitness & Community Races

A new event will unfold on Saturday, September 15th at Al Simpler Stadium. The Geary County Pathways to Fitness & Community races are being held with all races beginning and ending inside Al Simpler Stadium.

There will be a two-mile community road race open to everyone open to everyone from 6th grade through adult. Youth in grades K-8 are eligible for Fun Runs ranging from one-quarter to two miles. You can register at www.Manhattanrunningco.com or at the JCHS Shenk Gym on Friday evening, September 14th from 5-8 p.m. The cost is $5.

The school with the highest number of participants will earn a banner for their school. All schools must have a minimum of 10 students participating in the challenge to qualify for a school award category.  The event is geared towards students of Geary County but all students including those that reside outside of Geary County are welcome to participate.

All finishers will receive a ribbon at the finish line. The top three in each category receive a medal that will be presented at 5th Street Park.

Activities in the park are scheduled from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. They include race awards and playground dedication. There will be free healthy snacks, I.C.A.R.E. multigeneratonal playground dedication, door prizes, fitness vendors, health agencies and Tobacco Free Resolution.
