The Stuff the Bus effort to obtain school supplies for needy children in Geary County has met its goal.

United Way Director Nicole Mahder said Friday, “The community was amazing because we hit goal on everything. ” Mahder said they raised just over $1,500 dollars in financial donations and more than 10,000 items in school supplies.

The supplies will be distributed to local schools next week.

Volunteers helped with the collections this summer at Walmart on East Chestnut, Dillons on 6th Street plus at several business outlets, and Geary Community Hospital.
