There is an issue for the Geary Community Hospital Farmer’s market to deal with.
The Marketing Director for the hospital, Nikki Davies, explained the company hosting the equipment and server for the EBT – SNAP benefits is changing. That is due to a change in the contract with USDA, who awarded the contract to manage it to another company. “They actually don’t manage the SNAP/EBTÂ markets and so right now the bottom line is thousands of farmer’s markets across the nation are going to be facing this issue where their host company for using this SNAP /EBT machine is no longer going to be in business after July 31.”
Geary Community Hospital will have to figure out an alternative. “For us that means we may have to manually enter the data and we’d still be able to perform the same services at the Farmer’s Market but it will be a much longer process. We’ll likely know more here in the next couple of weeks of what that’s going to look like.”
The farmer’s markets at Geary Community Hospital are held on Thursday’s from 4-7 p.m.
