The Junction City Commission will consider the proposed 2019 City budget for publication Tuesday night. The governing body meets at the City building at 701 North Jefferson.
The indication has been from staff and elected officials that the the budget will have nearly the same property tax levy as this year, in the 48.095 range or something close to that.
There is some funding for projects available this year. City Manager Allen Dinkel has prepared a list for the commission to consider Tuesday. Some of those include an additional $100,000 for street and mill levy overlay, $50,000 for sidewalks in main pedestrian areas, $20,000 for refinishing the gym floor in the Municipal Building, $30,000 for restroom improvements at the Rolling Meadows Golf Course, $50,000 for a bandstand roof at Heritage Park and $25,000 for refurbishing tennis courts near Rathert Field and Coronado Park.
Once a budget is approved for publication it can be reduced at a future time, but not increased. The public hearing on the spending plan and final approval of the budget will occur in August.
The Commission will have a Land Bank meeting at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, followed by a special budget meeting at 6:30, and then their regular bi-weekly session at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
