The first loads of the 2018 wheat harvest have arrived this past week at Geary Grain Elevator in Junction City.

The first load of wheat was delivered to the elevator last Saturday, said Geary Grain owner Joe Hund on Tuesday afternoon. There have been other loads brought since that time. “Well kind of just some test cutting so far, but a few people have cut some wheat. Some of the wheat is about mature, and some of the wheat really is going to be a week or two yet.”

Hund noted a few loads had been brought in, and the harvest was a little bit ahead of schedule for when harvest is normally exected to occur. “Just kind of getting things started, and when we get some more 100-degree weather and sunshine we’ll some more wheat.
