Poison Ivy Identification and Control Workshop Scheduled

Chuck Otte

A “hands off” poison ivy identification and control workshop is being held by the K-State Research and Extension, Geary County Extension Office on Tuesday, June 12th at 7 p.m. at Homer’s Pond in Junction City.  The location will be just west of Eisenhower along West Spruce Street.

Geary County Extension Agent, Chuck Otte will explain how to identify poison ivy, the common mis-identifications, and how to control poison ivy.  Poison Ivy is a very common native plant that, unfortunately, causes many Kansans a great deal of discomfort every year.  Identification is fairly simple, once you learn a few tricks, but control can often be challenging because of where the plant is growing.

Otte will show how to quickly identify poison ivy and the various options available for control of this woody plant.  Questions on this upcoming event can be directed to Chuck Otte at the Geary County Extension Office, cotte@ksu.edu or 785-238-4161.
