Scam Warning

Junction City police say in recent weeks they have received several reports of residents receiving calls from someone claiming to be a relative calling from jail and needing bond money sent to them. The caller asks to have the money wired or money cards purchased. this is just one of many scams that occur across the country on a daily basis.

Police Captain Trish Giordano said be cautious when you receive calls asking for money. Try and verify with another family member or ask what facility they are being held. Do your own research to obtain the telephone number to call and see if the person really is in jail.

Another scam is where people call and ask for information or tell you a warrant will be issued if you do not pay a bill. No credible company will call and ask for your personal information such as a social security number or banking information.

If you have questions call the Junction City Police Department.
