Grocery Grab Supports Junction City Brigade

Grocery Grab winner Sylvia Dugan poses with Brigade and Dillons officials.

Sylvia Dugan had five minutes to grab all the groceries she could at Dillons Food Store Saturday morning. She was the big winner in the promotion which supports the Junction City Brigade summer collegiate baseball team.

According to Brigade General Manager Cecil Aska, Dugan was the winner of the five minute grocery grab. “You get five minutes to fill up a cart. And it’s all you can get in that cart. It’s a minute in each section of the store and then you have to move to another section.” Dugan grabbed groceries valued at $245.55.

Tickets were sold for the promotion, and some $50 and $100 gift cards were also awarded after a drawing held earlier in the week. Aska estimated that the Brigade expected to make about $3,000 from the promotion, which will be used to support the baseball team and to help fund a future scholarship for a player.

Names of the gift card winners included in the $100 category Mike Pender, Earl Stackhouse, McKenzie Clark, Dave Henderson and John Kolloff. In the $50 category some of the winners were Anna Johnson, Ken Bellamy who won two cards, Julie Owens, Pat Wright and two people who chose to remain anonymous and wanted their gift cards donated to the Open Door homeless shelter. The Brigade will grant that request.
