Free Presentation Will Explore History of Water in Kansas

Water/ Ways exhibit

The C.L. Hoover Opera House will host “Water in Kansas; Past & Present,” a presentation and discussion by Kansas geologist Rex Buchanan, on Saturday at 3 p.m.

The free program will celebrate the arrival of Water / Ways at the Geary County Historical Society. That is a Smithsonian Institution traveling exhibit that is open Tuesday through Sunday, 1-4 p.m., at the Geary County Historical Museum at 530 North Adams.

The Interim Director of the Kansas Geological Survey, Rex Buchanan, will discuss the importance of water throughout the history of Kansas. He will be available to answer questions following the presentation.

“Water is central to who we are as a people. Water determines much about where we live, what we do. It is a critical part of our history and our future,” said Buchanan.

“Water in Kansas: Past & Present” is part of the Kansas Humanities Council’s Water / Ways Speakers Bureau.
