Michelle Stimatze this week formally became the director of the Geary County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.

She served in the same capacity when the agency was under the auspices of the consolidated chamber of commerce, but had to reapply for the job when it was brought back under county government control.  This week the CVB board approved her hiring 7-0.

Stimatze didn’t reveal all of the details, but is working on a project. “It will prosper probably the end of January, so I’m hoping that Junction City looks at what we’re doing to promote not only our businesses, but also some of our historic sites,”

The CVB will continue to be housed in the Montgomery building on West 6th Street, although their offices will now be located near the front entrance of that facility.
